Loot Rules
From Unlimited Devotion
[edit] Overview
The purpose of this document is to set in stone the loot rules of the guild and to provide a framework for ensuring loot distribution is fair and equitable.
[edit] Loot Order
When there is a mixed group of mains and alts, we need a formal method of determining who has priority on rolling for drops. The following order will determine who may roll need:
1. Main characters needing for their primary spec. Example: protection warrior needs a tanking shield.
2. Alt character needing for their primary spec. Example: the above warrior has a restoration shaman alt that needs healing boots.
3. Any character greeding for offspec. For example: protection warrior greeds a two-handed sword for soloing.
In all cases, characters have priority on their "correct" armor type. Example: restoration druid and holy priest could both use cloth healing gear. The priest has priority no matter what, since the druid wears leather.
These rules apply to all guild runs of all instances regardless of how many people in the group, regular or heroic.
[edit] Patterns and Recipes
Gear is one piece of gear, but recipes can make hundreds of pieces of gear, or hundreds of enchants/potions. For this reason, we have special loot rules regarding recipes that help ensure these recipes stay in the guild and benefit the group as a whole.
When a BoP recipe drops and no guild officers know the recipe, the officers present who can make use of the recipe have priority and will roll against each other. If no officers can use it, and no senior members know the recipe, then the senior members present who can use it may roll. If none of them need it, then it is open to the entire raid to roll.
The exact definition of "senior member" is slightly arbitrary and this group will be determined by officers present. Typically this includes members who have been in the guild long enough that other members respect them, who show dedication, and who we feel will not quit the guild on a whim and take the recipe with them.
